The technological innovations of people such as TimBerners-Lee, Ted Nelson, and Douglas Engelbart have afforded modern day artists with many new and exciting opportunities in terms of observing, learning about, and sharing with the world around them. The plethora of platforms created for sharing information though the Internet allow artists to learn about art from past and distant places, as well as enable them to share their own artwork with people from all over the world. These platforms have even allowed for the creation of new types of artistic expression, such as anime music videos and other mixed-media creations. Some people might focus on the challenges that these platforms may present to artists using them, such as legitimacy, copyright issues, and even the relevancy of professional art (because of the ease of access to contemporary artistic processes). However, when looking at the greater overall picture, it is easy to see how the benefits of these new technological opportunities greatly outweigh the downfalls.
